Senior Flutter developer
Flutter / Dart / iOS / Android
- Location:
- Clevedon, North Somerset, United Kingdom
About the role
We're looking for an experienced Flutter developer to help shape the future of Eventware, our event technology platform.
At Sector Global, we develop technology that connects people, creates opportunities and helps deliver successful events around the world. Our platform is used by leading international event organisers, exhibitors and attendees.
You'll play an important role in developing and improving our mobile applications, creating intuitive experiences that help people connect, navigate events, manage meetings and discover new opportunities.
Our applications are used at major international events, often in demanding environments where connectivity can be unreliable and thousands of attendees depend on the technology. We're looking for someone who enjoys solving these challenges and takes pride in building secure, reliable and high-performance mobile applications.
You'll have the opportunity to influence technical decisions, contribute ideas and take ownership of solutions from concept through to release.
What you'll do
- Develop and enhance our Flutter applications for iOS and Android.
- Design and build secure, scalable and high-performance mobile applications.
- Develop robust offline functionality, local data storage and synchronisation to ensure applications work reliably with limited or intermittent connectivity.
- Integrate mobile applications with our platform APIs and third-party services.
- Implement features including push notifications, interactive maps, QR code scanning and real-time updates.
- Optimise application performance, responsiveness, battery consumption and reliability across a wide range of devices.
- Take ownership of technical solutions, from understanding requirements and evaluating approaches through to implementation, testing and release.
- Work closely with our product, design and development teams to deliver intuitive, accessible user experiences.
- Contribute to application architecture, code reviews, automated testing and continuous improvement.
- Make effective use of AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity while maintaining high standards of security and code quality.
What we're looking for
We're looking for an experienced developer with strong technical skills, an analytical approach to problem-solving and a genuine interest in creating excellent mobile experiences.
Essential skills and experience
- Strong commercial experience developing mobile applications using Flutter and Dart.
- Proven experience delivering and maintaining production applications for both iOS and Android.
- Solid understanding of mobile application architecture, state management and maintainable code design.
- Experience integrating RESTful APIs and handling asynchronous data.
- Experience implementing local data storage, offline functionality and data synchronisation.
- Good understanding of mobile application performance, memory management and optimisation.
- Experience with push notifications, application lifecycle management and native device capabilities.
- Understanding of secure mobile development practices, including authentication, secure data storage and API communication.
- Experience with Git, code reviews, debugging and automated testing.
- Familiarity with the Apple App Store and Google Play submission and release processes.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools, or a willingness to adopt them as part of your development workflow.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical colleagues.
Desirable experience
- Native iOS or Android development using Swift or Kotlin.
- Experience with offline-first application architecture and complex data synchronisation.
- Experience with maps, location services, indoor navigation or Bluetooth beacons.
- Experience with Firebase services, push notification platforms and real-time messaging.
- Mobile CI/CD pipelines, automated builds and deployment workflows.
- Experience with AWS-hosted services and cloud-based application architectures.
- Mobile accessibility, internationalisation and localisation.
- Experience developing SaaS applications, white-label mobile products or applications supporting large numbers of users.
Beyond your technical experience, we value curiosity, initiative and people who take pride in producing high-quality software.
